I have received and some is in the mail donations of homespun and cotton ease yarn for my bears. I think I will be making mostly little bears for the nursing home here in Geneva Alabama.....The hardest part of this one for me was the muzzle......I think the eyes are perfect. So far this in the only bear that I have used these eyes with....You can find the pattern here if you would like to help.

Getting Ready for a Delivery

The picture doesn't show everything very well, but I have 1 pair of men's slippers. 1 pair of ladies pocketbook slippers, 1 wheel chair tote, 1 shawl, 1 lap robe and 2 little teddy bears.......I am hoping to get a ministry started at the local nursing home sharing the love of God through giving...........This has been on my heart for a long time and now God has been speaking to my heart, telling me that it is now time....This is also done through a group that is close to my heart Loves Many Cloths.I have been a member for many years now...I do hope to get others to join me.

Debi from Solomon's Porch shared this pattern and had some questions about the short rows.......I had to give it a try but I too had some issues with the short rows........I managed to figure it out but don't ask me how. If I would make this again I know I would have to figure it out again. Being that this was made with acrylic I wasn't able to block it, so the point tends to curl........This cowl went to Solomon's Porch in Washington State.

This has got to be one of my favorite pairs of socks. Made with Paton's Kroy Mulberry Stripes. I did them in a simple 2x2 pattern. I wear them all the time. These were made from the cuff down.

Our Little Princess

Our precious little princess Lucy Pooh.............She was a few weeks shy of her 15th birthday when we decided it was time for her to eternally sleep......She had CHF and was coughing most of the night. We felt that her quality of life was poor and we didn't want her to chock to death. She went very peacefully and we laid her to rest in our backyard. Jerry poured concrete around to make a nice grave site with enough room to put Molly when her time comes. It was the hardest thing we have ever done. Neither one of us have had a dog that we loved so much.......Lucy was a tiny teacup Chihuahua with a big personality and she will always live in our hearts..........RIP dear little princess

I love this quilt...The pattern is from ravelry and it is called the Bee Keepers Quilt.....It is one that will be unique and mine.........I expect it to be a really warm one. This is a project that is worked on according to mood so it will gradually be growing. So far I have 37 and I need around 300.

The yarn is Vanna's Choice from Lion Brand...........White, Mustard, Sea Spray Mist and Olive. The pattern used is Lyn's Round Ripple. It is 40 inches wide and will be going to Central Ohio Binky Patrol.

I am very happy with the way this one turned out. I wasn't sure about the colors and didn't want pastel baby colors.

I really do need to take more pictures and post more often............I have mailed a package to MA this morning to Penny Chase for her shelters. There are so many people who need warmth and most of all prayers. Whether they be without a home due to joblessness or in shelters because of domestic violence.........there are way too many. Now what in the world would I want with a piece of rubber hose.

Well, I am a KNITTER. And when I knit my tensioned yarn is around my pinky no matter how I try to wrap. I have been getting a groove in that little pinky. So DH and I are going to try to make a pinky protector.

The inside of the hose is circumference in 5/8 inches and it fits my pinky quite comfortably. The outside circumference of my pinky is 7/8 inches.

Will continue to post the progress as it is done. DH has some ideas. I hope they work.

Update: Nah.......this won't work either. Now the right tools and then hose isn't as comfortable as I thought it would be.

We are now retired and living in AL.........I love having the time to craft...........but the major thing on my list is to lose weight and I am on my way to doing that. I use the treadmill 5 days a week and have changed my diet..............No I am not dieting......just changing my lifestyle to include exercise and healthy eating.........

I really enjoyed going to Fairhope AL to visit a very nice yarn shop call The Yarn Cottage. They have a charity project going called Comfortghans for the Baldwin County Care House. You can read about it on their website.
Lynn, who just learned to knit is working on one.

I bought some Berroco Comfort Yarn in white and pale yellow.

There are about 300 shops of all kinds in the area but I only wanted to go into this one. I loved it. I wish there was a similar place around here.

Trumpet Flower

A budding Trumpet flower. These are really pretty when they open up and they call the hummingbirds. We love to watch them drink nectar.

Jerry is working on cleaning up his shop. He has caught two rats but not before the darn things chewed up the cord to one of his drills.

Eventually he wants to seal it up, insulate it and put in a window A/C unit. I am glad he built this.

There are blooms on it and one tomato. You can barely see the blooms and the fruit is too small to capture in all this green.

Seems to be doing very well.

News on my Wasp

So no picture to post but I just had to tell y'all. Last night my hubby and I were sitting outside and we saw what I believe to be a Steel Blue Cricket Hunter. We watched her as she brought her prey to her nest. She had a green grasshopper, laid it down and when into her nest turned around and came back and took the grasshopper down with her.

I was getting very attached to watching this critter and was extremely upset when this morning the nest was very much disturbed. I think that early this morning while hubby was leaving for work that he accidentally stepped on the nest. I think she is in there and hopefully will be able to dig herself out. This little critter has been fascinating to watch.

It is sooo cool in this hot FL weather. Definitely not sorry I did this.

I am so proud of my little Molly for keeping her bow in her hair. It actually stayed in overnight. Then I did her a favor and took it out. I know she didn't like it.

My favorite flower is ready to bloom and the wonderful thing about this one is that is will bloom every evening around 4 o'clock; hence the name 4 o'clocks.

I remember growing up in PA and my parents had these very fragrant flowers planted in front of our picture window that opened on the sides. When the windows where open the fragrance was fabulous. They made the most beautiful and colorful hedge in front of the house. And they are annuals and spread like wildflowers.

Memorial Day Weekend 2009

Our Memorial Day weekend wasn't a total washout. It rained off and on the whole weekend but we were still able to cook and eat.

I must have eaten something that didn't agree because I really got sick Sat night and stayed in bed all day Sunday.

Then when we got ready to come home the darn slides wouldn't come in. Jerry found the problem; it was a loose wire.

This was made for a Love's Gal. Debi doesn't crochet yet, so she requested this hat. This was a practice for me. Debi wants it in black and since black is a hard color to work with I decided to try it is a color that I can see the stitches. This was an easy pattern to follow so I am sure I can do it in the requested color which is black. Do you like it? I sure do.

Very First Hugs and Kisses Blanket

So proud of this one. It is my first very special blanket for Blankets for Deployed Daddies.

It is made with a cotton blend. I used Lion Brand cotton ease and size 10 needles. I think I will do my next one with size 8.

The measurements are very strick and are 14 x 21. I had a little trouble staying focused but and looking forward to making more.

Here she is set up at home. She is happy here knowing she is not going to transport us back to work. We now will be going to Emerald Lake to enjoy our camper, make friends and relax. She is going out again Memorial Day weekend back to Emerald Lake. Can't you tell I like that campground?

Coming Home

Our camper will be coming home Sunday to this spot right here. Jerry is really burned out with working 7 days a week since July 13, 2008. He needs some time to relax. And since we bought our Ford F250 we can take her anywhere.

Just another temporary spot

So glad that this is just for one weekend. It sure was private but because we were next to the highway I couldn't let the girls loose. I know that Molly would have taken off and I couldn't bear the thought of losing her that way. Any way this weekend sure was windy but beautiful. We moved today and I will be taking pictures next weekend when I will be there for 1 week plus 2 weekends. Really looking forward to it and praying for good weather.

The Red Line Food Express was moved this weekend also and the park was packed; that is why we are in front of the A-Frame. We had some fabulous entertainment...'The Vegas Road Show". Emerald Lake RV Resort in planning a 'big' shing ding July 4th 2009. I will let you know more the closer we get to that date.

We are moving to the back private area where we can open the door and the girls can go out the door to the field. They love going to our "lake house". Picture to come in 2 weeks.

Here is our camper in a temporary spot close to the office and showcase. I like being close to the bathhouse too since I clean it when I am there The only thing I don't like about this spot is the 2 trees that go over the camper. Last year a limb broke and did some damage to a motorhome. The spot that we want has a tree but the danger is slight. The spot we want is much more private but I have to walk further to do my work. AW I need the exercise anyway. A small price to pay for privacy. OH btw This is our Ford F-250 that will pull our camper with ease.

Here are a few items that I finally finished. I think the yellow mittens may be a size larger than the hat. But the yellow hat does stretch some. I did the mittens on circs. Oh what fun doing the thumb on circs. The cloths are some from Monthly Dishcloths KAL. I hope to do every one of them for the year. I do have all yarn needed. I had run out of yarn on the baby jacket and couldn't find matching yarn so I shortened the sleeves by 2 rounds. Looks good to me.

Ok Now is am going to get an early start on my knitting.

Time to Sell

We went ahead and bought a truck big enough to pull our camper anywhere. Need to take some pics and post here. But for now here are some pictures of our 2007 Nissan Titan V8 that we have listed for sale. We don't want to make any money on it (just want the payoff). If it doesn't sell that is ok because I really like it. But the time will come when it won't be needed and it will be listed again.

Right now there is 18,000 miles on it and I only drive back and forth to work. Our 'other' truck is used on the weekend only. I plan to get some pics this weekend. The weather is supposed to be beautiful.

First Pair of Mittens

These are 2 needles mittens and really are easy. The pattern was given by our Love's member Maureen from New Jersey. Thank you much, Maureen. I want to be a mitten maker in the future.

I have a "few" projects going and need to make the FO's (finished objects). My crafting moods are constantly changing and I think it is high time that I focus on just a few. Of course there will always be cloths. That is how Love's Many Cloths started and they can be lots of fun to do.

This one was a lot of fun to do. I think the texture of the pattern is really nice. I also love the 2 diamonds in the center. A gal from my Monthly Dishcloth KAL designed this one for her daughter to learn knitting when she is older. I will be doing this one again in a solid color. What do you think?

I spent the weekend doing some crafting. Dana (Loves) is collecting toe cast covers so I made some and may make more before I send. I have also done a few cloths and am having a blast doing our KAL from Monthly Dishcloths. Picture when finished.

I didn't work on the BSJ this weekend but it still is gradually getting bigger.

This hat is one I designed as I crocheted. It has the top three rounds in dc and then front post round and then sc and repeat rounds. It is quite a warm hat

And here are a few preemie and baby hats that also went to NC to Love's Gal Ginger. Preemie items are needed in many areas and are fast to make.

Sorry that these pictures are blurry. I believe it is because I needed some batteries.
These are some preemie things that I just sent to NC Newborns in Need. The hat and booties are done in Red Heart baby yarn. These booties are open in the back giving access for wires if needed.
The blankie set is also from RH baby yarn. The booties are crocheted in one piece and very easy. I expect I will be making more of these in the future.

Jan KAL Ice Skate

This is my first KAL and as you can see it is a skate. I thought this Knit-A-Long was pretty easy but I am sure I won't say that about all of them. The next one starts Jan 15th and I am looking forward to it.

I have just joined a yahoo dishcloth group and they have a Knit-A-Long. Two a month. This is the first one. Have no idea yet what the picture is going to be but I will be posting the finished ones all year long. Now I have just given y'all my commitment. Hope I don't fail.

A few little hats and booties

I like making preemie and baby hats because of the instant gratification. These are all crocheted. The little preemie booties are open in the back so little tubes can be used when needed. I will be making more of these.

Are these supposed to be slippers?

Well I tried to follow a simple pattern from Dana and this is what I ended up with. Oh my what funny toes. I thought about taking the overcast stitches out from the toes and trying to gather it but I am afraid it might look worse.

Don and Charlene's Allegra Bus

You should see the inside of this one. Wow is it beautiful! The living room has 2 slides making it very roomy. It is complete with a washer/dryer/full size refrigerator and dishwasher......king size bed. Just an awesome and reliable coach.

We are standing around with friends wishing them a safe trip to MS to see there grandson.

and of course they are towing Charlene's jeep.

Our Camper

This is our 2007 31 foot Keystone Sprinter. It is really roomy for its size. The 2 slides give plenty of space for 2 people and 2 fur babies. The grill belongs to Don but we have use after we clean it up. Hasn't been used in a while.
Our little home also has a king size bed and we just got Dish. A home away from home that we love.

A local Ford dealer is looking for a F-250 for us. We really need a bigger truck to pull this. We hope to be able to do some traveling in just a few years.

Harvest Day 2008

I love Harvest Day. We have a lot fun.

Millicent, teacher, is a surgeon; Joy, top, looks adorable but I can't remember who she is supposed to be and Nurse Sherrie is the Indian squaw.

The kids love seeing their teachers all dressed up. And of course the games and goodies are well received.

This is my co-worker Princess. Of course she is dressed as a princess. Princess just turned 21 and she is so much fun to work with. Full of personality and a love for the kids. She is in college in the ESE program. Princess is also a very good beautician. I told her that she needs to get her license and set up her new home with a shop. It would be great extra income. This gal is good and I am having a ball working with her

at the school where I work. This is for Halloween and I am the 'Old Woman in a Shoe'. See my shoes hanging over my shoulder. This was the first time that I have participated and it was fun even though I didn't win.

Wow Bananas

I have never seen bananas growing before. These were growing by the Showcase at Emerald Lake where we stay whenever we are not at work. I thought this was one of the neatest sites things I have ever seen growing.

They have been cut down as the season is over. Don said they have never gotten ripe enough to eat, but I think they are still neat to see.

Last Little Delivery

These are a few little bears that I took to my school. It is a special needs school and I delivered these little guys to the school nurse. When the little ones get sick at school a little bear can bring them some comfort and a smile while they are awaiting for someone to pick them up and take them to a doctor.

Down the line I may make some more bears for Lovey's bear project. They are soooo cute.

These darling bears where sent to me by Margaret B from Love's Many Cloths. She does beautiful work. Now to find a home for these little darlings.

I will not be collecting anymore bears. Lovey in Ala. has a group of gals making many of them for the local nursing homes and everyone will get one.

A Great Success

I want to thank Annette Jansenius, administrator, Amber Gullet, head nurse and last but not least Cindy Brock, Quality of Life for their warm welcome to this Loves Gal. The outpouring of love for these ladies was readily apparent. I am planning to take some cloths to them and hopefully start some kind of time together teaching crochet.

My delivery today July 15, 2008 was at the Coutyard Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Marianna FL. The ladies had a really good time and I was so blessed by seeing them. Ten bears were given away. One went to a young man who loves FSU and he received a bear with the FSU colors.

BJ was so excited that she found it hard to choose.

First Florida Delivery Ready

I am really excited about today. I will be going to the Courtyard at the Mill Pond in Marianna FL for our first FL delivery of our Cuddle Bears. These are donated by Loves Many Cloths Cuddle Bear Memory Care Program, for which I am a coordinator along with our group owner Dana Jonsgaard and Debra "Lovey" Rogers. Dana delivered the first set of bears to Adith Miller & Roger Metz Memory Care in Winnona MN and Lovey is working on 102 for her local nursing home in Eberta AL. We are hoping that this program takes off. Oh by the way we are looking for bear makers, so if you knit or crochet please consider joining us at Loves Many Cloths.

A New Pattern

I tried a new pattern for my bears. This is knit a lot like the granny's favorite dishcloth. With worsted weight I think it might be easier. I used Moda Dea Tweedle Dee. I ran out of yarn just before finishing and decided that I didn't need to buy another skein at $7.95 since I got this on sale. So he looks like he has a broken arm. I may make more of these since it is quite easy.
